FREEDOM RECOVERY CENTRE HOSTS ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL GOLF DAY

Freedom Recovery Centre – FRC hosted its 3rd Annual Golf Day at Nigel Golf Course on Friday 11 August 2023. Perfect weather played a big role in the success of the day. A total of 70 players started their round of golf, all aiming for the BIG R100 000 “Hole-In-One” prize, that was sponsored by Amicos Insurance Enterprises, who were the Anchor Sponsor of the day.

Whilst Autozone Nigel were displaying their essential vehicle spares, Mamma’s Bakery made sure that players have fresh “Cinnabuns” and cocktail sausage rolls to keep the right balance on the golf course.

Players joined from as far as Pretoria, Secunda and Vereeniging and made the day a fun event for all to enjoy. Players were able to take a welcome break after the first 9 holes to have a look at the displays that highlighted the work done by Freedom Recovery Centre. Lunch was prepared and served by residents of Freedom Recovery Centre’s Government Halfway House.

The 10th hole was sponsored by NTT VW Heidelberg and they made sure that the players had enough “energy fluids” to make it through the last 9 holes.

1st Place belonged to Chris Steyn & Jeff Westley with a total of 52 points. In 2nd place was Paul Labuschagne & Victor Gomez with 49 points and in the 3rd place was Nardus & Bryan with a total of 48 points. Longest day was won by Zippy and Steff, receiving a Podcast & Streaming microphone and Gaming Keyboard, maybe to consider a new hobby!🤣

Prizes included, amongst others, complete aircon systems, hotel getaways, fuel vouchers, and even toolsets.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the sponsors for your generous contributions. Also, to the players that supported us, Nigel Golf Course for assisting us with the golf day and everyone else that contributed to the huge success this day was.

Funds generated at this golf day will be used towards building a new tuck shop at our Main Centre. This facility provides in-patient programs for 52 residents wishing to break free from the grips of addiction. As the need is so big, this facility would like to expand in the near future.
